NFL Thoughts-Week 1

>> Tuesday

The 1976 Buccaneers may be anxiously sweating out holding onto infamy. The Raiders and Packers looked dreadfully bad and may struggle to win a game.

Women and children, be very afraid of Shawne Merriman.

Chris Simms, it may be time to reserve yourself a moving van.

The Panthers are very pedestrian without Steve Smith.

I would advise Drew Bledsoe to immediately delete T.O. from his cell phone.

While the Cardinals may not be a complete enough team to make the playoffs, they will be wildly entertaining to watch.

Overreaction alert to Philadelphia fans: Ray Charles could carve up the Texans defense.

I would not want to play Detroit and San Francisco this season: Mike Nolan and Rod Marinelli get the most out of their teams and each will pull a couple of major surprises this season.

I think the Vikings dominated the poison pill battle, as Steve Hutchinson>>>>>>>>>>>>>Nate Burleson.

Peyton may have won the Manning Bowl, but Eli's team should do better this season. And memo to Tony Dungy, get Jospeh Addai the majority of carries ASAP.

Even the greatness of Tom Brady may not cover up the Pats Pop Warner group of pass catchers.

Herm Edwards did not take long to make his mark on the Chiefs.

The AFC North winner will have earned it, as it could be a legendary duel between Ravens, Bengals and Steelers. The loser will likely be left out in the cold come playoff time.

Jake Plummer, I recommend you to take my advice for Chris Simms.

Top 5 Teams:
1. Steelers-To be the man, you have to beat the man
2. Chargers
3. Bengals
4. Ravens
5. Jaguars

Bottom 5 Teams.
28. Cleveland
29. Houston
30. Tennessee
T-31. Raiders
T-31. Packers

Also:

Zuch's fantasy team sucks.

And, I think Nate and I will agree on this one: if the Packers are gonna suck this year, we want them to REALLY suck. We're talking "We get Adrian Peterson next year" sucking.

Some of my other thoughts:

-Laurence Maroney is the real deal, and what you said about Joseph Addai rings true for him as well.

-I'm not sure if Tampa is that bad or Baltimore is that good (probably something in between is true) but the Ravens looked nasty against TB.

-Rex Grossman still may not be the answer in Chicago, Green Bay's pass defense looked ridiculously porous.

Ooh, ooh...now mine:

Watching Damon Huard attempt to play football was both sad and hilarious.

By the way, Zuch, nice wrestling reference on the Steelers...Two this week. You've been keeping those under wraps far too long.

I want a piece of this action:

-When did Muhsin Muhammad learn to catch? He looks like he finally has the hands to go along with his size and speed. The Bears might have their first ever superstar receiver.

-Even though they won, Seattle is as bad as every other Superbowl loser. They couldn't score a touchdown against the Lions. The Lions!

-Still anxiously waiting for Chad Johson's first touchdown.

-Ahman Green looks to be back in top form, even behind a patchwork offensive line. If he can stay healthy for the whole season, he will have at least 1,300 yards (And hopefully turn the job over to Adrian Peterson).

-Jake Plummer suuuuuuuuuuuuucks (I know it's been mentioned, but I can't help it. He was SO bad, and I was SO right about him being SO bad).
