My favorite stupid thing said by an ESPN/ABC college football announcer Saturday.
Game: Ohio State vs. Northern Illinois
Situation: Ohio State misses a field goal
Stupid Line: "And it is....no good, so the Huskies dodge a bullet."
Reason for stupidity: Ohio State was winning 28-0 at the time of the missed field goal. If 3 points is equivalent to "a bullet," it begs the question, "If you've been shot 9 times already, is dodging the 10th bullet really that big of a deal?"
Honorable mention: Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech
Situation/Stupid Line: Notre Dame takes a 13-10 lead, and the announcer emphatically proclaims that Notre Dame has taken the lead for the first time this season. It's the first game.

He was probably referring to some points-shaving scandal. Though I guess that would only make sense if he'd said "Ohio st. dodges a bullet." But who knows; those gangsters are tricky.
