DAMN YOU DAVE O'BRIEN!!!

In the first half of the England-Portugal game in the World Cup Quarterfinals, ABC play-by-play man Dave O'Brien said that Portugal would be a tougher test for England than Ecuador because "they have history, whereas Ecuador didn't."

Even if he was using "history" in the sense of England's loss to Portugal in EURO 2004, it's still a ridiculous assertion because these are two completely different tournaments, but it sounded more like he was using it in the sense that Portugal's ghosts from the 1950s were going to come back and help the Portuguese haunt their way to victory.

Nevermind the fact that England has more "history" than Portugal because England has won the World Cup before, and Portugal has not. England was also the first side to play an international match, and is the birthplace of soccer.

Damn you Dave O'Brien.
