2002: A Tie, 2006: Everybody Wins

>> Tuesday

So I turned on the game in the 9th inning in time for a ground rule double by the American League with a runner on first.

It was decreed by the geniuses in the booth that this was a huge break for the AL, as the ball would have caromed off the wall into Jason Bay...err...Carlos Lee's glove.

Upon realizing that the ground rule double forced the tying run to hold up at third instead of coming home for a sure score, the opinion was reversed (without mention of the previous now-erroneous statement), and it was declared a break for the NL.

Somehow, for the first time in baseball history, the same play was an equally positive development for both sides. Infuriating.

It's nothing personal; this is Yellow Chair Sports--any wise-ass comment that can be made will be made. Just policy.

(And now you ruined my joke! Damn it.)
