Why wait until the All-Star break to start talking about the Cy Young?
>> Saturday
Pedro has not run away with the Cy Young as many expected him to do. After Maddux's brilliant start, he has hit a wall. I cannot see Bronson Arroyo, or the Reds in general, keeping this up.
Meanwhile, Brandon Webb has an 8-0 record with a 2.01 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, and a measly 10 walks in 12 games. And, oh yeah, his last 25 innings have been scoreless, which include two consecutive complete game shut-outs and 7 innings of scoreless pitching against Pedro (a game that went 12 1/2 innings before someone scored a run).
A couple years ago Randy Johnson was clearly the best pitcher in the National League, but lost it because he played for the Diamondbacks. This year, Arizona is on top of their division with a 31-22 record, and look to be competing for a playoff spot at the end of the year. If they do, Webb will no doubt be a leading candidate for the Cy Young.
So, you know, in case anyone wasn't paying attention...

Brandon who? How's Doug Drabek doing this year?
What about ol' Lefty McWhitenstin or the dreaded Masked Knuckler.
McWhitenstin is over the hill. His lgERA+ is a mere 105 this year. And the Masked Knuckler just sounds like something dirty.
Great site lots of usefull infomation here.
