JIM LEYLAND IS NOT THE REASON THAT THE TIGERS ARE WINNING, DAMN IT. Just about everyone knew that the Tigers would improve a lot this year. And while they have outplayed even those expectations (for the record, I called 85 wins), they have done so because the uncertain young talent has produced on the high end of uncertainty, almost across the board.

Once these individual player trends have settled toward realism--say, by 110 games or so--I fully expect the Tigers' winning to have curbed considerably. Then maybe we'll see what kind of rabbits Jim Leyland is hiding in that moustache.
