Jose Reyes hit for the cycle. I can't believe this is the leading margin headline on espn.com right now. Cycles are just silly, meaningless fluke occurrences. And among silly, meaningless, fluke occurrences, a cycle isn't even a particularly interesting one. Most people wouldn't even notice a cycle if not for announcers and on-screen graphics.
Seriously, a four-hit game isn't that huge a deal. Aside from four hits, there's no accomplishment in hitting a cycle (as in, no one actually tries to hit a cycle). The hits just happen to be one hit of each type. Big deal. It doesn't even deserve a name.
"Cycle." Hmph.

That was probably the most curmudgeon-ey post you've ever made, and that's really saying something.
And as for cycles being a fluke, shut up. They're only hit by the best players exactly when they intend to hit for them. Like three years ago, when Chad Moeller did it.
Haha, he was the first guy I thought of when I wrote this all-time most curmudgeony post.
