From The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition:
re·sil·ien·cy (r-zlyn-s)
n. Resilience.
Sportscasters--please just lock away that unnecessary syllable forever. And while you're at it, don't forget "ill-advised," "much-maligned," and "tenacity." These words all annoy me.
Sincerely,
Vincent Joseph Rooney
