Outside The Lines w/Sir Charles
>> Wednesday
Man, I don't know if any of you out there ever catch Outside the Lines with Bob Ley, but it's a damn good show.
Anyway, the show tonight was on the recent revelations from John Daly and Charles Barkeley about their gambling problems.
I don't know if you guys caught this or where I could find you the transcript, but one thing jumped out at me: Charles Barkeley has a scary problem, and the way he talks about it (ex: "I have a problem. I'm not gonna quit. All I have to do is get it under control and bet smaller.") sounds like the makings of a pretty serious addiction.
Also, apparently professional athletes gamble like crazy. Shocking.

One observation: Would this story have gotten this type of blanket coverage had Barkley not made these comments on SportsCenter (i.e. on any other media outlet)? Either way, I find this issue fascinating. It makes you sad, really.
Does anyone else remember this?
Jay Leno - "You ever bet on something and just said: This is crazy?"
Barkley - "Sunday night Jay. I bet on the Houston Texans. I have no idea what I was feelin. I'm like, I call my guy I said, 'Houston's gotta win a game sooner or later don't they?' I'm thinkin ok they on national television. Every jock gets excited when they on national television. There's no way you gonna embarass yourself... I was wrong."
