If actual stats aren't good enough for you, try some made-up ones

This is really more of an extension of Vinnie's last post, but I thought I would add a few more points to make this already solid argument better. I'm going to create a few stats to prove my point (As if baseball needs any more stats).
The point of baseball, as every other sport, is to score more points than the other team. The number of runs accounted for by Adam Dunn last year (either driving a player in or crossing the plate himself) was 168. And no I did not count home runs as two runs. R+RBI-HR = RAF(Runs accounted for). Podsednik's RAF: 105.
Also, since Podsednik fans love the fact that he can steal a bag and get into scoring position so much, let's statistically look at the value of this. To get a grasp on this, consider a single and a stolen base to be just as good as a double, and look at a single and a caught stealing as a non-hit. Okay, that bumps Podsednik's slugging up from .349 to .420 and his OPS to .771, still way behind Adam Dunn's .543 and .930 (adjusted to account for his four stolen bases and two times caught stealing).
Will that shut you Pod-loving bastards the fuck up?
By the way, Carlos Lee's stats show just how brilliant the Brewers were for making that trade:
RAF: 167
Adjusted SLG/OPS: .502/.826

Solid post man, but be careful when you bring Runs Scored into a stats argument. It's kind of a sticky statistic because the player really has no influence on his own accounting for runs scored.
Oh, I realize that. In general, runs scored should not be payed too closely to when measuring the value of a player. But in this particular argument, people love Pod because he can steal bases and run fast, which makes him more likely to score runs, but he's outdone by a slow beast of a man who stole four bases all year. Also, in this particular argument, we're talking about a lead-off man (Podsednik) vs. a clean-up man (Dunn) and Dunn has more runs than Podsednik, largely because he drove himself in 40 times...it's just insane for anyone to think that Podsednik is a more valuable player than Dunn.
