Joe Morgan's Man Crush For Barry Bonds Has No Limit
>> Monday
Last night during the Giants-Phillies game on ESPN (and, although the Phillies won, you'd have a hard time knowing it thanks to ESPN's mega-huge boner for Bonds) some fans in left field held up what may be the greatest sign I've ever seen at a sports venue (hattip Deadspin for the pic).
While I'd normally leave what followed to the guys at FJM, this one is just too eggregious to let go.
Joe Morgan's response to the sign? "The funny thing about that is that, wasn’t beer illegal in Babe Ruth’s day?"
Fuck you, Joe Morgan.
P.S. look for this summer's upcoming buddy-cop movie starring Barry Bonds and Joe Morgan. I can't wait!

Joe Morgan's revisionist account of prohibition:
"On January 16, 1920, amid growing concern about the health effects of alcohol, United States lawmakers passed law that prohibited the sale and purchase of alcoholic beverages. Among these risks were heart disease, impotence, emotional imbalance, and testicular shinkage.
Despite the legislation, many Americans continued to abuse alcohol--most notably professional baseball stars of the day like Babe Ruth. Because alcohol was proven to enhance muscle mass, speed muscle recovery time, and improve eyesight, the consumption of alcohol proved especially advantageous to baseball players.
Though the accomplishmets of Babe Ruth and other baseball players from the 1920s remain significant in American culture, they also encumber major reservations regarding validity and fairness due to the widespread illegal alcohol consumption of the era."
