Gasp, there are poor writers at SI also
>> Sunday
Since I do not subscribe to SI for some weird reason considering I waste my money in many less useful ways, I do not consistently read what has been long recognized as the standard in sports journalism. However, at some point through the years, Paul Zimmerman, aka Dr. Z, who I believe received his PhD in making ridiculous predictions, made his way onto the SI staff. In his draft recap for this past week's issue, he credits the Broncos for having a great draft, and makes these incredible points to prove his hypothesis. Tony Scheffler, their TE picked in the 2nd round, ran a 4.54 40, second only to Vernon Davis at the combine, and their 4th round pick, a cocky, 6'4 1/2, 229 pund receiver Brandon Marshall should provide the Broncos offense a boost. Hmm, just because Scheffler may be fast does not make him good. However, with Stephen Alexander already on the roster, maybe they want to corner the market on athletic tight ends who can't actually play football. And ask David Terrell and Freddie Mitchell how cockiness guarantees NFL success. For that matter, taking Jay Cutler at #11 was a reach, especially when they could have waited for a guy like Kellen Clemens or Charlie Whitehurst in the 2nd round, and had more pressing needs at DE, RB, and WR. For everyone celebrating their acquisition of Javon Walker, remember that he is coming of a serious knee injury and has only had one good season. He also seems to have the same Criminole attitude as many of his Florida State brethren. Once again, it looks like the good doctor has been caught overmedicating himself before writing his column.

Porn.
By the way, why so down on David Terrell? The guy just needs the right system, the right quarterback, magic play-good-football pills, and a little time to develop.
