The New guy getting his 2 cents in!!
>> Monday
Thanks by the way for getting in the way of my finals studying, but i just had to get my thoughts in here.
Anyway, kudos to Kobe for scoring 81 points in a game, and leading the league in scoring. He does deserve a ton of credit because without him, who knows how many wins that team would have had. Then on the other hand you can say the same for Steve Nash. Can you tell me who else (besides Jordan in our day) has been able to lead a bunch of no name guys to 54 wins?? If I may quote a previous post on this very same site "who ees Raja Bell?" Well Raja Bell is an undrafted free agent signed by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2001 fresh out of the world renown basketball school that is Florida International University (sarcasm anyone?). After a few years traveling around the league, the guy makes a stop in Phoenix and hey what do you know? he has a career year across the board. Then we have my other friend some guy named Boris Diaw that was playing over in France for sometime then came to the US and hadnt scored more than 5 PPG in his career, then gets to Phoenix and scores 13.3PPG. Ok , thats enough with stats from guys that nobody has really heard of even though I can still talk about guys like Leandro Barbosa and Eddie House that also hit double digits in scoring for the first time in their careers this year. Then you say that Lebron wasn't that far off on the assist number, the difference was Nash 826 total assists to James' 521, I think that's a pretty big difference. Then you might bring up the argument that the Suns scored more points per game than the Lakers. Why is that though? Because of the style of offense they run. Why do they run that style of offense? Because they have Steve Nash and he CAN run that offense and run it effectively.
Also, ponder this... If you take Kobe off of the Lakers they still have Lamar Odom, who is an established guy, and Kwame Brown, who if you forgot was a #1 overall pick, so therefore must have some sort of talent and is still young. Take Nash off his team (this year without Amare) and who do they have left?? Shawn Marion and... the bunch of nobodies I mentioned above.
There is what I had on my mind right now, I might have more to say on the subject at a later time...
PEACE!

2000-2001 76ers/Allen Iversons: 56 wins, and their second leading scorer was Theo Ratliff.
...also, what do you mean "besides Jordan?" I seem to remember this guy named Scottie Pippin playing alongside MJ, and he's in the hall of fame.
...also, how are you ignoring Shawn Marion? The guy was not only the leading scorer for the Suns (not Nash) he averaged a double-double (21.8 points and 11.8 boards) to go along with his 1.69 blocks per game. Nash isn't even the best player on his team.
as its been pointed out, Jordan had Pippen all of his career(who along with MJ is one of the NBA's top 50 players), if Rodman sucked then so does Ben Wallace, BJ Armstrong was a f reaking all-star, kid.
"take Kobe away and they still have Odom." Alright the guy didnt suck, but he cant lead a team and the guy is inconsistent. What does it matter if Kwame was the #1 pick in the draft? Kwame is a "pussy"(Phil Jackson said this). The guy did get better this year but he still sucked.
As for Nash leading a team of nobodys well Barbosa was a 1st rounder(28th), same for Diaw(21st),Brian Grant(8th),Tim Thomas(7th), Kurt Thomas(10th), and most importantly Nikoloz Tskitishvili, lets not forget he was taken 5th overall. THESE GUYS ARE LOADED. Really, horrible arguement saying that the Lakers without Kobe wouldnt be too fucked up cause they have a former #1 pick.
and Raja Bell, believe it or not, has not gotten much better after joining the Suns.
w/ Suns
37.5 minutes
11.8 FG Attempts
5.7 3PT Attempts
0.6 Rebs
2.6 Assists
1.0 ST
14.7 PPG
w/ Jazz(his last team)
28.4 and 24.6 minutes
10.6 and 9.8 FG Attempts
2.1 and 2.0 3PT Attempts
3.2 and 2.9 Rebs
1.4 and 1.3 Assists
0.7 and 0.8 ST
12.3 and 11.2 PPG
the stats are the fraking same, Steve Nash did not make Raja Bell any better. If anything Mike D'antoni's offense did because he got to shoot more than in Utah. Besides, Bell gained more exposure from guarding Kobe Bryant than from playing with Steve Nash, therefore Kobe should be the MVP.
