Great game...or GREATEST game? Hmmmm...
>> Tuesday
I think we've actually reached a point in all-encompasing sports coverage where we can no longer appreciate a great game simply for that: a great game.
Boise State's overtime win over Oklahoma was a great game, and I enjoyed watching every second of it (and luckily for Bechtel, my shouting at the end of the game woke him up in time for Hook and Ladder and beyond).
The cooler talk this morning should have been "Holy shit, did you see that game last night?" and further discussion on how similar Boise State's playbook is to our own Turkey Bowl, written-in-the-dirt playbooks, how Jared Zabransky is exactly the type of quarterback you'd expect out of Idaho, and about that one time we ran the Statue of Liberty play in Zubaz and old Oilers jerseys.
Instead, we have to ask "Was this the greatest game ever?" and "Should Boise State get a chance at the national title?" and generally, stupid questions that diminish the glory of what Boise State did.
I didn't even want to write anything about it, because in a way, I'm contributin to the media onslaught. But then I saw there was a picture of a god damn goat at the top of our site and thought ah, the hell with it, I'll post it.
So let me finish by saying this: What a great fucking game.

Come on, Nate. We don't stand for that wishy-washy crap here. Be a man and take a side. Was it or was it not the best game ever? Huh? It's one or the other. None of this half-tones baloney. You're with us or against us.
What next--the hidden ball trick? I wonder how that would work in football. Wait, I guess that's just play action. Shit. I'll shut up now. And post this comment anyway.
