Bit Pessimistic for a Wednesday
>> Wednesday
A sign I passed on the way to work this morning. The website leads to The National Shrine of St. Jude, whatever that is.
St. Jude is the patron saint of lost causes, desperate situations, hospitals, and the Chicago Police Department. I guess they're expecting something big like a riot or a meteor impact to go down Sunday.

Actually, for a long time St. Jude has been very near and dear to our family, as has been supporting the shrine monetarily. But anyway, you didn't come for my family story.
The shrine made (and may still make) bumper stickers that read, "St. Jude--patron saint of lost causes." That always struck me as a misplaced medium for the cause. I assumed a lot of people would take that as a bit of dark humor.
Lame joke I can't resist:
"Lost Causes" and "The Chicago Police Department" -- redundant?
We should ask the hippie's skull from 1968 about how lost a cause they are.
Holy crap. Mad props to the greatest saint who also has a McCartney-penned Beatles song written about him.
On a similar note, Vinnie noted recently that "Martha, My Dear" was about McCartney's sheepdog. I found out tonight that "Jet" by Wings is a song about his black labrador. And suddenly I find myself way off topic.
