The Grand Delusion

While the fans at Indiana received a well deserved slice of humble pie when having to settle for about Plan G, Kelvin Sampson, their past success gave them reason to have some expectations. Rewind back to 1983, the last time the sporting world had reason to take notice of NC State basketball after they miraculously defeated Houston's Phi Slamma Jamma powerhouse in the 1983 NCAA Championship game. Now come back to 2006, where a group of hopelessly unrealstic fans ran Herb Sendek out of town. Sendek happened to have turned NC State into a top 25 program after inherting a team that would struggle to beat The Raliegh High varsity squad. (There is a reason why the old opening game of ACC Tournament was named the Les Robinson Invitational). His reward for 5 straight NCAA Tournament berths: continual complaints from fans complaining that his team didnt play an exciting style basketball, hallucinations that NC State should be continually defeating local rivals Duke and North Carolina. Still, after hearing more rejections than the class nerd during prom season, they complain about the media disrespecting them and deride and articles like these. Hopefully this humiliating coaching search will continue until these ungrateful fans can finally have some humility knocked into them. With the way you treated a successful coach like Herb Sendek who did things the right way, every negative word you have to read about will be well deserved.

At least NC State had three defensive lineman taken in the first round of the NFL Draft. Despite the possibly important fact that they A: weren't a good team last year and B: couldn't beat Wake Forest. Remember, this is football, not basketball.
