Cranky, nitpicky Sunday morning ESPN bitching for this week
>> Sunday
SportsCenter--Evidently SC still thinks that Marquette is a tiny college in Michigan and that Brian Wardle is still our star player. They made big mention of Depaul's huge home "upset" (uh, not so much) over Kansas but didn't even give the score for Marquette's shocking home loss to a recent D-I addition.
Yes, I realize I'm complaining that they didn't report what will almost certainly be the lowest point this season for my favorite sports team, but you get my point.
Outside the Lines--Pedro Gomez has to be the single-most ass-kissing, pandering, softballing reporter and interviewer I have ever seen. Watch the re-run of this morning's taped Sammy Sosa interview if you get the chance.
Also, Phil Rogers justifies a Hall of Fame no-vote for Mark McGwire because he was a "one-trick pony." Yeah, Claude Monet was also a one-trick pony because he never could get the hang of realism or fielding the first base position. (The tired famous artist analogy is the best I've got this morning. Sorry, it's the sabbath; I really shouldn't even be near electronic machines. So lay off.)
I tell ya'--some of these guys with Hall of Fame votes...Sheesh.
