The 2008 NFL Playoffs: The Way I See It!
>> Thursday
Giants: 20-14
Washington Redskins vs. Seattle Seahawks
xApparently the Redskins are going to win because Sean Taylor's spirit is guiding this team. As ESPN has been playing this angle all fucking week, they lose sight of the actual matchup. The Seahawks hardly lose at home and quietly have a very good defense. Clinton Portis will make the game interesting, but we all know this game is going to come down to which quarterback plys better down the stretch. Personally, I'll take Hasselbeck over career backup Todd Collins. This game stays close through the 3rd quarter, but the Seahawks runaway with it in the 4th.
Seahawks: 27-10
AFC Wild Card Weekend:
Tennessee Titans vs. San Diego Chargers
The Titans are the worst team in the playoffs. But they are a much better team with Kerry Collins as QB than Vince Young (Personally, I don't understand when everyone has a hard on for Vince Young). The Titans don't have a very good running game and no healthy receivers. Tomlinson will have about 250 total yards and this game will be over halfway through the 2nd quarter.
Chargers: 30-10
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Jaguars might have the best running game in football and have a quarterback who doesn't turn the ball over. But the Steelers have the two best players on the field in Roethlisberger and Ward. Personally, I don't understand why everyone hates the Steelers. Yes, they have struggled down the stretch but here's a stat for you: The Steelers have never lost to the same twice at home in the same season.
Steelers: 24-21
Divisional Round
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys
Yes, the Giants have the firepower to hang with Cowboys in a shootout. But the Giants unfortunately will go as far as Eli can take them. When push comes to shove, Eli crumbles. The Cowboys have been battered and beaten the past couple weeks and it will show today. But Romo has more weapons to work with even if Owens sits the game out.
Cowboys: 31-17
Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers
Anyone who watched the Packers-Bears games this season will agree that this is going to be a tough game for the Packers to win. Even though I am a Chicagoan, I am rooting for the Packers this postseason in hope that Brett Favre will retire and we can see the great Aaron Rogers. Somehow, the Seahawks always seem to play above their abilities in these Divisional games (last year against the Bears). Despite what my ND boy Ryan Grant has done, that Packers have a no running game and have been living off the pass. The combination of Paddy Kearney and Julian Peterson has huge implications. This game will show the Packers season long stud defense is suspect as Hasselbeck throws 3 TD's. Unfortunately, Bears fans will have to endure one more season of Kornheiser doing a slurp job on Favre.
Seahawks: 27-17
San Diego Chargers vs. Indy Colts
Other than the Patriots, the Chargers are the perfect team to into Indy and beat the Colts. Great pass rush teams have historically caused havoc for Manning. On the other side of the ball, the Chargers two-headed rushing attack will keep the Colts D off balance for a half. Expect the Chargers to go into halftime with the lead, but the Colts will adjust and eventually this game will be put into River's hands. Late interception kills Chargers final drive and the Colts barely get out of this one.
Colts: 34-27
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New England Patriots
A week off is just what the Pats need with those old as dirt linebackers they have. Just like a coupe weeks ago, this game will be close heading into halftime, but the Patriots will blow the Steelers out in the 2nd half. The Steelers don't have anyone to cover the 3-headed receiver monster the Patriots have. Expect Moss to get another 2 TD's off deep play-action passes.
Patriots: 35-20
Conference Championships
Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys
Owens comes back from the sprained ankle, but how healthy will he be? He showed up against the Patriots a couple years ago and had a monster game. I would expect a similar occurrence. The Cowboys strategy will be to win TOP with Barber and Jones. This game will rest on how many big plays Hasselbeck will be able to make. Romo is not as good as everyone says and he will be killed by Kearney today. Seahawks win this game at the last second.
Seahawks 20-17
Indy Colts vs. New England Patriots
The game America is hoping for. The Patriots have been looking very vulnerable the past couple weeks with a defense that is growing noticeably older each week. The key in this game will be how much pressure the Colts generate without Freeney. If Brady has time, he will abuse the Colts secondary. But if the Colts get pressure, they have a chance. I would expect the Patriots to be ahead early like last year, but the Colts will take advantage of a tired Patriot defense late in the game. In the end, Manning and Addai dominate TOP in the second half and the Colts upset the Patriots. By the way, I am rooting for the Pats just so they can shut that dick Mercury Morris up.
Colts: 34-30
Super Bowl XLII
Seattle Seahawks vs. Indy Colts
The Colts already won the two most difficult games and this Super Bowl looks like a blow-out. Hasselbeck can pick apart the Colt defense if he has time. But the Seahawk defense cannot do enough to keep this game close. Colts win this game by halftime.
Colts: 38-17
