Sonic Trivia Question from tonight's Yanks-Indians game:
What happened on this date in MLB history that never happened before and has never happened since?
What??! I think that's one of those questions they'd ask people on the gallows to save their lives back in the old days. I mean, seriously, without any bounds, that could literally be anything. Lonnie Smith homered off Bob Welch on a 1-2 count with two outs in the fifth? Willie Mays called Leo Durocher "daddio" in the dugout?
Answer: Don Larsen pitched a perfect game in the World Series. Wow. Did he? Never heard that one before. Imagine that. A perfect game. In the World Series. I'm surprised no one's ever mentioned this rare occurrence before.
YAWWWN.......

Equally stupid: Chip Caray commenting that "no one would every match that feat again." I guess pitching a perfect game in the World Series falls into the category of "baseball nevers" along with 300-game winners and 56-game hit streaks.
Also, I never realized how much Chip Caray's announcing style is similar to Joe Buck's. I mean, he's got two color analysts in the booth. Yet he's talking like 85% of the time and providing plenty of his own color commentary. Shut up Chip! Why didn't I realize how much I hated this guy when he announced for the Cubs?
This year, there actually is a decent chance that it will happen.
Of course it's not likely, but give me Sabathia and Carmona against the Rockies or Snakes lineup that finally comes back to earth...I could see a perfect game happening.
Chip just topped himself with that "I did it my way" comment.
