or need a slam-dunk trivia question to win a bar bet....
American Samoa
was the first team to be eliminated from the 2010 FIFA World Cup, losing 4-0 to Oceania rivals Tonga in a qualifier. American Samoa is ranked 199th in the world. You may remember the American Samoans as being the team on the losing end of a 31-0 game to Australia in 2001, a mark which still stands as an international record.
The United States begins qualifying next summer. Defending Champions Italy will start up in about a year.

For the next 34 months, I will now pop in to every bar I come across and see whether I can find one person to take that bar bet.
Come to think of it, how does that bar bet work? Do I just go, "Hey, I'll bet you a sawbuck you don't know the first team eliminated from the 2010 World Cup." And when they're like, "I don't care, and would you please quit staring at my girlfriend?" I go, "Ohh!! You owe me ten bucks. Fork it over!"
Yeah, I guess that's how that'd work.
I was thinking like if it came up on the NTN or something like that.
