On Thursday night, at 6PM an ESPN 2, Loyola Academy (Mine and Zuch's high school - we have fleece sweatshirts!) will play North Central high school (Ind) in ESPN's annual high school basketball showcase. The matchup will feature two undefeated squads (I believe) and the highly anticipated matchup of Jeff and Marcus Jordan against the man Illini fans hate, Eric Gordon. The game will also be played before a sellout crowd of 3,200 fans. It is up for debate whether ESPN should be exploiting high schoolers for television ratings, but this should be an exciting game that will have several midwest celebrities in attendence.
And Remember: It's a Good Day to be a Rambler! We Are...LA!!!

Fortunately for us, it is not up for debate whether blogs should be exploiting the same story to show off where the YCS staff went to high school.
Hey, don't be sour, just because your high school sucks at every sport doesn't mean you can rain on anyone else's parade...next thing ya know, you'll be hopping on the Bears bandwagon ... oops
Fair enough, however, please clarify.
I hope you're not implying by that "oops" that I'm a bandwagon-hopping Bears fan as such an assertion is false. Did I have some doubts about them earlier in the year? You bet. So did more or less everyone else who was paying attention. I'm no high school pep rally rah-rah fan. Have they achieved more than I thought they would? Hell yes. Did I ever root against them or stop supporting them? Nope, and on Sunday I'll be wearing the same Bears jersey that I wore on the first day of the season, and that I first wore when the Bears finished 2002 with a 4-12 record.
So I hope you're not insinuating that I'm fair-weather, because if you were, I would hope that you would at least have the stones to come out and say it.
You know, Comcast picked a real fucking good time for my cable to go out. I mean, I even dusted off my old red fleece that I wore for 2 straight years for tonight.
Pat, cool it. You're the guy that texted "Bears suck" to me after they beat the Seahawks in the Divisional game. Sever's been no more negative about the team than you have this year (however, you've both been considerably more positive than I have -- kudos). Also, bragging about being a Bears fan isn't something I'd spread around, you two.
Uh, sorry Matt, you might want to check who texted you that b/c I definitely don't have text message coverage for my cell plan
Um, also actually I don't remember being that negative about the team .. actually if I remember correctly, I'm the only one one this board to pick them to be over .500 (10-6 to be exact). I don't know where you get this that I have been negative about them, pretty much because I hardly ever post on here
And Zuch, I tried to find mine, but had no luck at all...too bad
Okay Mike, calling you a bandwagon hopper was a bit extreme and I stepped over the line.
Wait a minute...since when does negativity towards your team make you a fairweather fan at all?
Being unconditionally optimistic does not make you a fan...it makes you a Super Fan.
Pat, you're ridiculous. You are ABSOLUTELY NOT the only one to pick the Bears to be over .500. Zuch, Nate and I all picked them to win the division and have a good record, and Nate and I just rooted against said picks. Your revisionist crap is out of control.
For proof, feel free to peruse the archives of this very blog, sucka.
Yellow Chair Sports.....where blog posts about high school basketball turn into debates about being a Bears fan.
Being off topic for months running.......
Anyways, no one seemed to notice Zuch's post about losing cable. That sucks, did you get back up and running in time?
So how did this game end anyway?
Loyola got spanked.
Loyola's got a pretty sweet logo. A little blurry and pixelated, but I assume that's to add character.
As for the fairweather comment, I assumed Pat was refering to last year when Mr. I Have More Important Things To Do Than Get Drunk On A Sunday And Watch The Bears i.e. Getting Into Law School was rarely present on gamedays, except for the occasional saunter into the living room to check the score and rag on Kyle Orton
And all that work paid off didn't it? Well....not last fall, but eventually.
This will be my last post on this board ... actually matt, sorry. I found Nate having the Bears going 7-9, Zuch at 10-6, me at 11-5, and a couple of different ones from you (although several were probably at me) going 7-9, 8-8, and 9-7. In all posts, it was mentioned they win by default. But like ya said, its hard to take everything at face value (mostly b/c everyone's trying to show everyone else up) and thats my mistake.
That said, while I have contributed to (and probaly produced most) a lot of the negativity on this board, I think if you guys want your new website to be outstanding (which I think it will), you need to separate yourselves from yourselves. Everyone has a particular point of view and that should be embraced (you don't want to be like ESPN and be full of fluff). I think the broad range of interest among everyone here is what keeps this site interesting and intriguing, which is why it has expanded probably further than most of you thought. So, maintain that. Best of luck guys
