Oh, come on now: Part 3 of our attempt to run this Imus thing further into the ground
>> Thursday
Maybe it's just the mindset that us twenty-somethings of the Parker-Stone generation seem to share, but really, does anyone think Imus deserved to be fired for his ridiculous comment? The way society swings these days, I'm actually rather surprised that the so-called PC crowd is still strong enough to render insensitive humor a fireable offense.
I for one (and I'd guess most of us feel this way) don't believe in stiffling foolish absurdity. I'd rather know what more an outrageous person has to say, and if they choose to absurd their way into irrelevence, so be it. But they could also be like Parker and Stone who offer priceless insight through their calousness.
If the offender is just a rabble-rousing idiot, I'd say it's more just to let them fizzle out in shame--if justice is your bag. For the rest of us, there's more to learn and observe from the words of a clown than from a simple pull of the plug.
Oh, those silly media people.

2 hours after we posted that Snoop quote, Imus was fired. Coincidence? Or was it just better-than-Watergate-caliber journalism?
The answer, friends, is as it has always been: "Yellow Chair Sports: Better than Woodward and Bernstein."
What do you guys think of this Jason Whitlock column on the issue (posted here on some dude's blog--read the two guys beating on each other in the comments section if you want your head to hurt)?

If nothing else, it's probably a perspective that had to be said. That said, I think he oversimplifies a bunch of stuff. Man, though, this thing has the blog world going wacky.
Basically, this situation proved what many people had thought all along: Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have a good chunk of this country by the balls. And trust me, this is definitely not a good thing, no matter how entertaining Sharpton can occasionally be.
That article from Whitlock was fabulous by the way.
