Extremely Tenuous Situation

With Billy Donovan turning down Kentucky, there is a chance they could come calling for Marquette's Tom Crean. Despite the sentiment against him among Kentucky's crazy fans, it would still be an excellent opportunity for him at one of the destination jobs in college basketball. In my mind, I would not fault Crean for attempting to rise to the tough challenge.

However, should this actually happen, Marquette would likely be in bad shape. Currently, we have no AD in place and it's likely one will not be hired in the very near future. Going through a coaching search with no AD in place could set our program back many years. Many potential coaches would be scared away from going to a school without knowing who their boss will be. Basically, anyone with half a brain should really hope Crean does not leave. The ramifications could be extremely severe and a spot with St. John's, Rutgers, Seton Hall and South Florida at the bottom of the Big East could be waiting for us.
