New York Needs Add A. Tude Adjustment
>> Monday
New York City has earned a reputation as one of the premier cities in the world on the cutting edge, and they've certainly accomplished a lot. The City that Never Sleeps has become a center of commerce and finance, an ethnic melting pot unparalleled anywhere in the world, a home of beautiful art in museums, a city of soaring architecture,
and High School Basketball riots.
Looks like they need some "Add A. Tude" the lovable good sportsmanship mascot of the Illinois High School Association (yes, there is a guy in an Add A. Tude suit who walks around at the state finals. I wonder if he got pelted with batteries and apple cores like my high school mascot did, with me inside the suit...) Remember kids, sport a winning attitude at all times!

This born and raised NY'er can tell you, those schools definitely come from the city's core. Not surprising.
Lincoln, however, has a very rich basketball tradition, and has most recently produced Stephon Marbury and Sebastian Telfair (who was good in High School, I promise!!!), among others.
I actually had the chance to see Marbury play for Lincoln when I was in H.S. We picked an away game against a non-bad neighborhood Manhattan school and went.
(Sounds like they knew who was inside the suit.)
You were the mascot at high school sports events? How fitting.
Meanwhile, I was on the field, nailing cheerleaders and kicking ass by the boatload.*

Kind of, I was chairman of the Benet student government committee that promoted the athletic events (I know, someone thought I was competent enough to run something). Spot-filled in to wear the suit (sort of looks like a red eagle with pissed off teeth. Very bizarre) a couple times in the state tournament for basketball and soccer.
While many know Benet as the school that brought you the lead singer of Survivor, Benet actually has a long history of producing top-quality mascots. Michael Macaluso (Class of double 'aught) picked up the shillelagh and became the Notre Dame Leprechaun after the black dude retired.
However, according to friends who went to ND, because Mac was such a tool, he was soundly booed when introduced at Senior Day 2003 against BYU.
So more or less the same reaction I got at Marquette, just change "tool" to "pretentious ass" and "when introduced at Senior Day 2003" to "everyday."
