Marquette/NCAA Predictions 2007-08

>> Sunday

Now that Marquette's season has come to an abrupt close, it's time to take a step forward, and look towards next year. Here are some predictions to dwell on for the upcoming season:

- Tom Crean will spend the offseason as the subject of rumors that he is being courted by about 17 teams (Michigan and the Miami Heat are already the subject of "speculation.") The offseason will go by, and Crean will begin the 07-08 campaign as Marquette's head coach.

-Contrary to popular message board speculation, Marquette will not lose any assistant coaches this offseason.

-Lawrence Blackledge will not be a member of the 2007-08 Warriors. He joins Ryan Amoroso, Carlton Christian, Brandon Bell, James Matthews, Karon Bradley, and others as the star of Google searches from Marquette fans thinking "Whatever happened to...?"

-Dominic James will rise again.

-Jerel McNeal is good. (Not a prediction per se, but a statement of fact that should hold true.)

-Amoroso will average 1.8 points and 0.7 rebounds per game in 4.8 MPG at San Diego State. He will also continue to dazzle the masses with mediocre dunks recorded "And 1" style on YouTube.

-Greg Oden will return to Ohio State for another season. Having aged a year, he will now look 41.

-Kevin Durant will turn pro. He will be billed as the greatest thing since LeBron, who was the greatest thing since Kobe, who was the greatest thing since Jordan. In the 2008-09 draft, Oden will be the greatest thing since Kevin Durant.

-Bob Knight will piss somebody off.

-Jay Wright will not take the 76ers job, and will continue to be the best-dressed coach in the Big East.

-The staffers at YCS will continue to break their backs trying to come up with an NCAA roster that Zuch has not memorized. Another season will go by, and we will fail miserably at this task.

-Despite us making fun of his uncanny knowledge, Zuch will still take us to task when he writes some damn good previews in October.

-We're still going to want to be the Warriors. We're still going to think it can be done without offending any American Indians (think Joan of Arc, people!). They're still not going to listen. We're still going to be right. Go Warriors.

More to come as the weeks go by...

Oden back to college? I think that's--as you would say--kooky talk.

I agree with Vinnie. Don't listen to the rumors, listen to the money.

Money always wins.

If it were up to Oden, he stays in college. However, his mama wants to cash in now and therefore the young but old looking Mr. Oden will be plying his trade in the NBA next season.

Also, I think Amo has the potential to be very good at San Diego State should he find the training room. If he insists on staying on my diet and playing at 272, he should forego college and just join the World Poker Tour now.

Also, dude, there's still some basketball left to be played. Marquette's out, sure, but let's not talk about next season until this one is over.
