How to use stats to support outrageous claims

Outrageous claim: LeBron James should be benched, as evidence from last night's game:
Supporting statistics:
Cavs with James on the court: -4
Cavs with James on the bench: +8
Obviously, Cleveland is a better team without King James.

I'd say it couldn't get any stupider than that, but I'm worried the ESPN types would take that as a challenge.
Haha... good work Nate. But I'm completely with you--they've gotta find more time for Eric Snow. That guy's a gamer and one of the toughest competitors in the game, says Doug Collins.
In general, I think plus-minus of players is such a useless stat because it fails to take into account key factors like who else is the floor at all times and can be easily manipulated by runs, which are so frequent in basketball.
Now, if you're a useful stat, it's points/rebounds/assists/blocks per 48 minutes. That can give you an indication if a role player should be getting more or less minutes, if that player is way outproducing his minutes.
