The GS Warriors: Our kind of team
>> Thursday
I guess I can't speak for everyone, but I know Golden State has become my favorite NBA team over the last couple weeks. And I don't even like underdog stories.
Aside from the superficial similarities to our alma mater (nicknamed the Warriors, fans wearing bright yellow shirts, playing against Devin Harris), they have so many qualities we love in our teams: chaotic style, grizzled coach who says crazy things, odd lineups, and shady malcontents.
After seeing Stephen Jackson get unfairly ejected in Game 5 for... well... doing nothing, I have even more rooting interest for the Warriors. I hope they keep winning and keep getting T-ed up to stick it to David Stern's uptight ass. If they win tonight, I'm sure they knock off the winner of that 4-5 snoozer in the second round.

Ahh, shady malcontents. If I liked basketball, I'd be all for these guys. But, as Nate can attest, fuck 'em.
I can attest that my watching of Game 5 directly conflicted with the stupid Jack Bauer show.
But yeah, I'm on board with you here Vinnie. I love this team for all the reasons you mentioned. But I admit, I also have a special place in my heart for underdogs (not the "heartwarming" hollywood underdog stories, but the actual players and teams that just hand it to supposively superior talents).
I certainly don't always cheer for the underdog, but it's an extra reason for me to cheer for a team like the Warriors.
You know, I think there was just a tiny bit of creedence behind D Wade calling out Dirk after all. I mean, that could have been me wearing #41 on Dallas and you would not have not noticed much of a difference(other than Dirk being a foot smaller and 75 pounds heavier).
