Am I Missing Something?

From ESPN.com's Chad Ford, in re: Nick Fazekas
The skinny: Rockets GM Daryl Morey is a stats guy and Fazekas ranks very high on various sabermetric equations. They also need a power forward and a shooter ... making Fazekas an obvious pick. (emphasis added)
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but how the hell are basketball statistics ever "sabermetrics?" Doesn't "sabermetrics" come from the Society of American Baseball Research? Baseball? Hello? Huh? Where am I?

SABR isn't just baseball. There's...
Soccer Association of Boca Raton
Seacoast Area Bicycle Routes
South African Breastmilk Reserve
And also, "Sabr is the Arabic word for patience, endurance and self-restraint."
Of course, none of that has to do with basketball, so I'm guessing Chad Ford is a putz and doesn't understand the origin of the word sabermetric.
(Maybe we've baited him enough to pull a Keith Law and respond to us. That would shut us up good.)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Rockets draft a 6'10" slow, white, shooting power forward last year?
Yes, the Rockets did draft a very similar player to Fazekas in Novak. Unfortunately, that idiot Van Gundy decided not to play one of the best shooters on the planet in favor an undersized 6'6 power forward who brings nothing tangible to the table.
