Other Rematches We'd Like to See

>> Wednesday

The offer for a rematch game of 21 between Michael Jordan and Byron Scott got me thinking, what other rematches could be arranged for a worthy cause (or windfall profit)?

David Tyree and Rodney Harrison playing 500.

YCS Questionable Gambling Advice

>> Tuesday

Earlier this week, Iraq defeated Saudi Arabia in the Asian Cup Final.
In June, the United States won the Gold Cup (The North American Championship) defeating Mexico 2-1.

Both sides qualify for the 2009 Confederations Cup, an important World Cup tune-up tournament in South Africa, joining Brazil (South American Champs), Italy (World Cup Champ), South Africa (Host nation), the 2008 European, African, and Oceania champs. Teams are sorted through a blind draw.

20 bucks right now says the US and Iraq get drawn together.

Following our gambling advice has proved nothing but wise in the past. Why stop now?

I noticed Nate left a comment about heading "off to Vegas" under my MLB preview post. ( I take it he was the only person masochistic enough to wade through that cum bucket.)

So I figured, why not take the opportunity to give more of our trademark odd-defyingly bad gambling advice? (My source on the odds is VegasInsider.com)

Looking at the futures, I think Boston at 12-1, LAA at 15-1, Florida at 30-1, and Cleveland at 30-1 look like the best plays if you think my picks are worth a damn. And the White Sox at 10-1? Umm, someone needs to tap Vegas on the shoulder and thell them it's the 2007 World Series future, not 2006. Vagas--that stupidhead.

For winning the pennant, Boston (6-1), Texas (25-1), Seattle (30-1), and Cleveland (15-1) look like the smart plays in the AL. In the NL, I like the Phillies (8-1), Cubs (15-1), Padres (14-1), D'Backs (35-1) and Rockies (50-1).

Put a fiver on each of those, and come October, I promise you'll be cashing in a few C-notes. And come October, I promise no one will look back to this post to hold me accountable.

Lock of the Week

>> Wednesday

Making a brief cameo here during basketball season, it is my obligation to alert the great readers of YCS of a sure way to make a few greenbacks. Currently, Marquette would be 2.5 point UNDERDOGS to 14-11 DePaul. The same DePaul team who Marquette has beaten 8 out of the last ten times. The same DePaul team that would be coached by Principal Vernon, whose coaching strategy resembles that of Fat Pat Kennedy. When the talent is relatively equal, a Tom Crean coached team will beat Jerry Wainwright 9 out of 10 times. Other than Wilson Chandler, the talent is not equal. DePaul cannot match the Three Amigos and Ousmane Barro should be a handful down low. A double digit Marquette victory is much more likely than the good guys not covering. While you blow a wad of money on your significant other tonight, you can recoup your money by taking Marquette and 2.5 points straight to the bank.
