What's the deal with airplane peanuts?

Just wondering... Is there any other "State" school that's known better by their initials than their full name other than LSU? Everytime I hear an announcer say "Louisiana State," I'm like, "Who?" What makes them so special? Am I right, ladies? Don't get me started... Don't even get me started.

Pokey's replacement

I just became familiar with LSU's interim coach for the first time tonight. His name is Bob Starkey, and this is what he looks like:

The clear intent here: Not only to prevent another coach-player lesbian affair but to promote someone whom even the most opportunistic heterosexual player could never go for. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's the guy who played the rabbi from Elaine's apartment building on Seinfeld.

(Just checked IMDB. It's not him. But I bet he loves the shiksa too.)

Pokey Chatman

We the writers at YCS have an obligation to present the Pokey Chatman story, quite possibly the funniest incident to occur in this blog's year-long existence. However, instead of me cutting predictable double-entendres and lesbian jokes, I'll leave that for the good readers and writers of Deadspin.

Addendum from the editor, 3/15/07:

I've been spying on you. Well, actually sitemeter.com has been. I'm talking about those of you who've come to this site because you Googled "pokey+chatman." For some reason, this blog comes up pretty high on a Pokey Chatman search, thanks to Zuch's quick mention of her last week. And that's what likely brings you to this site. (For the record, I think you're sick.)

What I really want to say to all of you who've come here in search of a scurrilous scoop on this sordid affair, please stick around and check us out. We may not be the lesbo harlequin romance you'd hoped to find, but we do have some interesting things to say.
